In this video from the PBS program Otherwords learn more about bilingualism, how it affects the brain, and the academic and long term cognitive benefits of learning another language.

A Parent's Guide to Mandarin Immersion by Elizabeth Weise is one of the most comprehensive resources for parents with a child in a Mandarin program. It is a little outdated in places, but a revised edition is in the works. She also has a website called Mandarin Immersion Parents Council, which has news and links to additional resources. There she maintains a list (page link, list link) of schools offering Mandarin Immersion programs around the United States as well as some abroad.

DeepL is used by organizations such as National PTA's DEI group and PTA leaders at schools with complex language communities similar to Harrison Park. It is also the tool Yù Rén & HP PTA use for their communications work.

Chinesefor.us is a highly rated language app that offers free video lessons typically lasting about 10 minutes. They also offer printed materials mapped to the HSK test here in the Downloads section of the page.

The website All Language Resources has a list of apps and resources for learning Mandarin ranked by review. You can access the ranked list (near the bottom of the page) here-.

Lingobus is a paid app that some families in our program have had good experiences with. They offer live online tutoring for about $20 per 30 minute session.

The Chinese Immersion School at Kennedy Middle School in Eugene, OR's 4J school district is a K-6 (with plans to become K-12) program that has a list of resources recommended by parents in their program. You can view the list by clicking here.
