National PTA 125th Anniversary

2022 marks the 125th anniversary of National PTA.

National PTA Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in PTA Grant

Harrison Park PTA is honored to participate in this year's National PTA DEI grant program. For the remainder of this school year we will be conducting focused outreach to gain a better understanding of our school community. From this outreach we hope to find ways to better support the rich diversity of our school families.

National Arab American Heritage Month

Day of Service--Thank You!

On April 8th we held out Day of Service in honor of National PTA's 125th Anniversary. Turnout was great, the kids had fun, and the main courtyard is looking much better! Thank you to everyone who attended!

Women's History Month

PTA 125th Anniversary Day of Service April 8th

Join us on April 8th for a Day of Service commemorating National PTA's 125th Anniversary! Harrison Park PTA was one of 125 PTA local units across the country chosen for this honor. We will be cleaning the school courtyards. Light refreshments will be provided. This is a family event, so children are welcome with adult supervision. The event starts at 10:00 am and will run until 2:00 pm.

We're partnering with Atlas Pizza again for a pizza night fundraiser support Harrison Park music programs, including Modern Band!

Garden Work Party 3/3

Join Grow Portland March 3rd at 3:15 pm to get the Sensory Garden prepared for spring plantings!

Modern Band Gear Drive/Fundraiser

Long live rock n' roll, hip-hop, punk, jazz and soul! (just to name a few). Mr. Ford has a cool idea...are you down with the sound? Turn it up!

Mr. Ford is looking for specific pieces of equipment to support this project. Do you have old guitars, amps, or effects pedals collecting dust you're willing to donate? Let him know!

Black History Month

February is a time to remember & acknowledge over 400 years of Black American heritage and contributions in these United States. National PTA Founder's Day

February 17th marks the anniversary of the very first PTA meeting 125 years ago.

Lunar New Year

Say goodbye to the Ox and hello to the Tiger! This year the festival begins February 1, 2022 and runs for 16 days, ending with the Lantern Festival. Click on the tiger to learn more about this important festival throughout Asia.

HP PTA was proud to support the HP Mandarin DLI with their Lunar New Year Celebration event! We helped out with decorations, and film & video support during the all school lunchtime performances.

School Spirit T-shirt Design Contest

WOW! We received the most t-shirt contest submissions ever! Great work students! From this abundance of entries a handful were chosen as finalists.

Friendship Day

For Friendship Day HP PTA purchased a Candygram for every student, teacher, and staff member--you're all our friends! Procedes went to support the Middle School Leadership Team.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday 1/17

Grant Review & Submissions

We' reviewed & researched program grants for consideration and applied for one. In the past grants have supported events such as Math Night.

Mask Donation

During a time of shortage HP PTA donated masks to the front office for kids who forgot, lost, or damaged theirs. Stay safe everyone!

Winter Carnival 12/17

HP PTA Treasurer Sachi Knight assisted as a chaperone at this year's Winter Carnival. We also provided toys for prizes. Much fun was had by all!

Winter Break Food Boxes

The HP PTA Board organized food and filled bags for distribution with the holiday food boxes distributed 12/17.

Bulb Distribution & Order Updates

Most bulbs are in and many have been distributed already! There are a few bulb types that are out of stock--we are working to connect with those affected to update their orders--check your emails!

Teacher Appreciation Snack Bags

Parent/Teacher Conferences are coming the week of Nov. 22nd! PTA will provide snack bags on 11/19 to help keep teachers fueled and show our appreciation!

Scholastic Fall Book Fair Nov. 17-30th

Books make great gifts--give the gift of reading and support the school library at the same time!

Gobble, Gobble! Holiday Food Boxes Are Coming 11/19!

The HP PTA Board organized food and filled bags for distribution with holiday food boxes this Friday! And a child (1 of 5) of the PTA President happened by and was promptly put to work (and good work it was, young sir! Now, back to class!).

Leadership Forum 11/11/21

Co-Secretary Elihu Roberts attended for the Board. Tough questions were asked (and answered!) and best practices shared. It was 90 minutes well spent.

Dutch Mill Bulbs Fundraiser

Thanks to the hard work and sales savvy of driven students we exceeded our fundraising goal by 24%! Proceeds go to support the school's sensory garden.

Native American Heritage Month

Nov. 1st to Nov. 30th: A time to remember and honor the great contributions and rich history of the more than 570 tribes of indigenous Americans in what is now called the United States. Learn more at the Native American Heritage Month website.

School Sensory Garden Work Party

This was a Grow Portland event. There was thunder, there was lightning, we worked in the garden--it was exciting!
